Title of Text: Night of the Twisters Section 5
Minutes: 40
Summary: While Dan and Arthur tried to find Mrs. Smiley, they thought that she was already killed. When they arrived though, the house only lost its roof, and received a couple dents. Other than that, the house was in perfect condition. They looked all over the house, and they finally found her sleeping on the couch. Turns out, she never noticed the tornado. She felt very healthy and they tried getting her out. The kids brought Mrs. Smiley to a mini bus that will take her to a refuge to stay at. The kids on the other hand went on to a cop car with a cop named Kelly and he started bringing the kids to Kmart where they would provide the kids some clothes to wear. When they were headed over there, the radio started going crazy. People were telling Kelly to get out of the car but Kelly only told the kids to get down. Then, a vortex came by just missing them. The glass of the windows shattered and Kelly got a blow to the eyes. The kids were alright but Dan had to drive for Kelly because Kelly was loosing his sight. Dan had plenty of experience for driving from his family letting him drive the tractor. A connection I have with Dan is that when he heard all the voices layering on the radio, he felt like his ears were going to explode. I would feel the same way if I heard a million voices. A prediction i have is that Kelly will not be able to continue driving his car and the kids will get help from Kmart. A question I have is how could Mrs. Smiley possibly sleep through a tornado ripping her house apart? It is so weird.

Title of Text: Series of Unfortunate Events-The Reptile Room
Minutes: 90
Summary: Stephano came by and told the kids that he would be the one to take the kids to Peru. The kids were in shock and wanted to check with Uncle Monty. When they went to the Reptile Room, it was completely silent. The kids turned the lights on to see if he was hiding and when Klaus flipped the switch, there he was, sitting on the couch super still. His body was completely pale and there were two holes under his eye which may have meant that he got a snake bite. While the kids got into the car with Stephano and started driving to their transportation, they crashed into a car that they soon found out belonged to Mr. Poe. They all went back to the house and Stephano called a doctor over to check on Uncle Monty. While the doctor was checking on him, the kids looked for clues. Violet decided to make a lock pick and she later opened Stephano's suitcase. She found a bottle of poison, a needle, tickets to Peru, Uncle Monty's herpetologist member card, powder, and a mirror. Violet spent a lot of time trying to link them together until she came up with the perfect explanation. She figured that Stephano used the poison and the needle to kill Uncle Monty by stabbing him under the eye. Then, he stabbed a second hole to make it look like a snake bite. He would then use the member card so he can use the Peru ticket and get the kids to come with him alone. He also used the powder to hide the tattoo from his leg. He was really Count Olaf, the man trying to steal the Baudelaire fortune! They made sure by rubbing the man's ankle and there it was, the picture of an eye which was basically Count Olaf's logo. When Count Olaf tried to run for it, the doctor came with him. Sunny then bit the hand of the doctor off revealing that the doctor was really the hookman from Count Olaf's theater troupe. The kids were upset that they let go yet another criminal. A connection I have with the kids is how they felt so bummed out that they let go Count Olaf yet again. If I let a criminal escape multiple times, I would be very upset. A thing I saw in Violet is that throughout the series, Violet has become smarter and smarter and that she has become more confident in herself.

Title of Text: Series of Unfortunate Events-The Miserable Mill
Minutes: 70
Summary: The Baudelaire kids were riding a train that was leading them to their new owner. They were looking out the window and all they saw was a very ugly forest that seemed gray and lonely. When they arrived, they found a note saying that their new caretaker wants to see them in the dorm for the Lucky Smells Lumbermill. When they arrived, they found a bunch of adult men and woman on bunks playing cards. The kids were immediately put to sleep, but they didn't bother because all they could think of was their horrible past. The next thing they knew, they were quickly thrown to work. The kids had to debark 14 trees while facing back-breaking pain and the moist, sticky feeling of the factory's heat. When the lunch break finally came, the kids were disappointed. All they got was a square of gum. A small square. They also only got 5 minutes to chew. After the lunch break was over, everyone went back to work except for the kids. They had to pay a visit to the owner. The kids explained to the owner that they were put to harsh work and the owner said that it was all a huge mistake. Then, out of nowhere, a man came up and disagreed. He said that he was their new owner and that they would make a deal. The kids would work for their owner until they get the fortune in exchange for protection from Count Olaf and his buddies. The kids thought it was unfair but they didn't disagree. A connection I have with the kids is how they felt about their lame lunch break. I would feel the exact same way if I got 5 minutes to chew a small piece of gum. It doesn't seem fair at all. A question I have is why must the the foreman be so harsh to the workers? He wakes the people up very early, and doesn't give them decent meals! A thing I see in Sunny is that she always does her job. If she is directed to take the bark off a tree, she does anything she can to get it done

Title of Text: Series of Unfortunate Events-The Bad Beginning
Minutes: 45
Summary: Violet and Klaus were running out of time thinking of how they could save their baby sister Sunny while avoiding marrying Count Olaf. When they say their vows and say “I do.” Violet thinks harder then ever. Then, when she signs the marriage contract, she uses here non dominant hand, her left hand to sign. She proved that she didn't use her true hand and the marriage became invalid. Luckily for Violet and Klaus, Count Olaf told his worker to bring over the baby from the tower before she signed the contract. There was a reuniting when Sunny came and Count Olaf was steamed. Count Olaf was told that he would go to jail immediately. Then, suddenly, a man from Count Olaf's theater troupe turned off all the lights and caused everything to go haywire. As Violet struggled to find the light switch. Count Olaf came up and threatened her saying he would get the fortune soon no matter what. When Violet turned the lights back on, she found out that the theater troupe had escaped in a car. Justice Strauss said she would take care of the kids from now on but unfortunately, she wasn't allowed. In Violet's parents' will they wanted the three kids to be raised by a family member. Even though the kids wanted to stay with Justice Strauss, they had to separate. They would have to live with Mr. Poe until he found another family member. A connection I have with Klaus is how he was so worried about giving up the fortune and so anxious if Violet would do something to save them. I too would feel so worried and so desperate for someone to save me from becoming a “slave.” I would be willing to do anything! Something I saw in Violet throughout the book is how each character got involved. Sunny only popped in a couple times with silly words. Klaus was constantly thinking smart and sharing his ideas. Violet was most interesting because the more I read through the book, the more she started to get involved. I question the author by saying, why did you choose to make the characters unfortunate kids. Did you ever have a personal experience or did you just make up the characters? I would also like to compliment the author because he stuck to his title “Series of Unfortunate Events” very well by giving the kids a hard time and only giving them a few fortunate things.

Title of Text: Series of Unfortunate Events-The Wide Window
Minutes: 60
Summary: After receiving harsh treatment from Count Olaf, the kids move to a different relative named Aunt Josephine. She is a woman who is afraid of things like stoves burning, phones electrifying you, and other nonsense. One day, when Violet went out to shop for groceries, she bumped into a man dressed like a sailor. When she saw the shiny eyes and the uni-brow, she knew who it was- Count Olaf. He was disguised as a sailor named Captain Sham. Aunt Josephine and Count Olaf were talking and talking while Aunt Josephine had no clue. Aunt Josephine was being friendly to Captain Sham even though the kids tried to explain who it was. When they came home, the phone rang and Violet answered to show Aunt Josephine that it was not dangerous. When she answered it, she knew it was Count Olaf looking for Aunt Josephine. Violet said that he got the wrong number and quickly hung up. Violet lied to Aunt Josephine and said the caller was looking for some dance club and got the wrong number. Immediately, the phone rang again. This time Aunt Josephine answered. She then told the kids to go to their rooms because they were planning a surprise for them. The kids were starting to get suspicious about what was going. My prediction is that Count Olaf and Aunt Josephine will bring the kids to Lachrymose Lake and have a meal together. It is just that the lake is a big setting for the book, especially for Aunt Josephine, who's husband died there. I also think that while they are at the lake, Count Olaf will push Aunt Josephine overboard then force the kids to give up the fortune. A connection I have with Violet is what she did to get rid of Count Olaf. She just said that he got the wrong number then quickly hung up. I would do the same if I got an unwanted caller. Something I saw in Violet is that from the first book to this one, she seems to have gotten smarter. She is noticing things quicker and coming up with things more effectively which didn't happen much in book one. I would like to question the author and ask, why is the house right by the lake if she is so terrified. I mean, she used to like it as a friend, but no she is terrified so why doesn't she move? I would like to compliment the author on how creative he is being. He wasn't afraid of his books being cheesy and he always gave imaginative names which is cool.

Title of Text: Series of Unfortunate Events-The Wide Window
Minutes: 65
Summary: While the three kids were thinking of Aunt Josephine talking to Captain Sham, they heard a loud shattering noise. They checked her library and found a note pinned to the door. It was a suicide note saying she jumped through the window and killed herself because she was just too sad. They started to worry and entered the library and there it was in front of them, the window was shattered and only a few pieces remained attached. They were devastated. After that event, they started to study it. Klaus studied it the most. He worked very hard until he finally got onto something. He knew that Aunt Josephine was a fan of grammar and that any grammatical mistake would upset her. Klaus found all of the mistakes and he put together all of the letters she should have put in certain words. When he combined them, it spelled CURDLED CAVE. The kids thought it was a cave in Lachrymose Lake and they decided to look through Aunt Josephine's books to try and locate Curdled Cave. They thought she made those mistakes so the kids would follow her to Curdled Cave. Right when they found the location of Curdled Cave, they saw the wind picking up and thunderstorms raging. They checked out the window and noticed that one of the stilts that kept the house from falling in the lake was collapsing from the storm. They had little time to escape and survive. They had no choice but to leave and find Aunt Josephine. A connection I have with Klaus is how hard he checked to make sure the letter was some clue. If I saw a suicide letter, I would try to make sure that it was not serious or if it was a clue of some sort. It isn't funny to fake something serious like suicide. A prediction I have is that they will try to locate Curdled Cave because they want to save Aunt Josephine so they don't live with Captain Sham. Something I saw in Klaus is that in the two times I have spent reading the book, Klaus became more and more participative. He was quiet in the beginning but now, he has been acting smarter and he has given more of his ideas. A question I have for the author is why does Count Olaf want the fortune so bad? I want to know what he will do with the fortune if he gets it. Will he do something evil or will he think of it as money from the lottery? I would also like to compliment the author because he was very creative and clever to make the letter some sort of clue to the next location.

Title of Text: Series of Unfortunate Events-The Wide Window
Minutes: 30
Summary: The kids just managed to escape from the house which fell piece by piece into the lake. They decided to go to Captain Sham's sailboat place to borrow one and rescue Aunt Josephine. The kids felt so confident until they saw who was at the desk- one of the members in Count Olaf's theater troupe. It looked like neither a man or a woman. It was holding the keys to the gate which was locked. Their plan was basically blown. Then they suddenly noticed that Sunny had disappeared. They saw her inside the office approaching the thing with the keys. She got it and brought it back to her two happy siblings. When the kids started walking down to the gate, Violet sneezed and the thing woke up. Unfortunately, Sunny left some crawling marks leading to the door and the thing angrily followed the kids. It picked the kids up and started to bring them to the office when he suddenly tripped on the atlas the kids had dropped. The kids beat the thing to their feet and they picked up the atlas running for the open gate Klaus opened. They quickly jumped into a boat and looked back at an angry man/woman. The kids finally made it to the shore of Curdled Cave which looked like the open mouth of a beast. They heard a moaning from inside the cave and they entered cautiously. There, crying her heart out was Aunt Josephine. She was very happy to see the kids. She said they were going to live in the cave away from Captain Sham who was actually Count Olaf. The kids were shocked because they had no food. They decided to sail back. They were sailing when they noticed a bunch of little shapes underwater surrounding them; the Lachrymose Leeches. They wondered if anyone ate anything because the leeches only attack at anything with food on or in it. Aunt Josephine admitted she ate a banana and that's when they knew they were in for a tough trip home. A connection I have with the three Baudelaire kids was the fact that they were SO shocked that they were going to live there. I would be so mad if I went to rescue someone and end up living in that place with no food. Luckily, they got Aunt Josephine to sail back! Something I saw in Sunny is how she has always been just a small little character but now, she became a true hero. I never thought it would happen. A compliment I would like to give to the author is how he made Count Olaf a character who came up again and again and not just in one book. It was a very good idea that could not only make you think of many plots, but also make the books more exciting and exciting.

Title of Text: Transformers Prequel
Minutes: 50
Summary: Optimus Prime an Megatron were both brothers who protected the world of Cybertron. Then one day, something changed in Megatron that forced him to build an alliance of evil robots. Together, they were the Decepticons. Optimus took action by making the Autobots who fought for good. The allspark became what they fought for and soon, it got launched into space, Megatron followed it to Earth where he crash landed into the ice of Antarctica. Bumblebee, one of the Autobots tried to find the Allspark and has searched through many places in Earth. The war for the Allspark is still young but it is about to begin here on Earth. A connection I have with Megatron is how he followed the allspark. I as well would follow something I desire even if it meant taking an extreme risk. A prediction I have is that Bumblebee will be spotted by the humans while he searches for clues about the allspark.

Title of Text: Series of Unfortunate Events-The Bad Beginning
Minutes: 60
Summary: A group of kids named Klaus, Sunny (the baby) and Violet Baudelaire were people who always had bad luck. One day while they were at a beach, a man they knew named Mr. Poe came and told them their parents had died in a fire. The kids were then taken to their family member Count Olaf which they didn't know very well. They were told that Violet would get their parents' money once she was old enough. While living at Count Olaf's house, they weren't treated like human beings. Count Olaf ordered them to make dinner for him and his theater troupe which was 10 people already, plus the three of them was 13. They didn't know what or how to cook so they went over to their neighbor Justice Strauss and borrowed a cook book. They decided to make a sauce with spaghetti for a tasty pasta treat. When the troupe came home, Count Olaf demanded roast beef and the kids were shocked. The troupe was mad and they just got drunk from their wine instead of eating. Klaus eventually became enraged and shouted at Count Olaf. Count Olaf struck Klaus in the face and they went to bed. A connection I have with Klaus is that just like him, I would become enraged if someone got me very mad. A prediction I have is that the kids will try to plan an escape from Count Olaf so they can get away from their harsh treatment and try to live by themselves. A question I have is why did Count Olaf get so mad about them not cooking roast beef if he didn't even tell them to? It doesn't seem fair for the kids.

Title of Text: Series of Unfortunate Events-The Bad Beginning
Minutes: 90
Summary: When the Baudelaire kids woke up, they went to the kitchen and found Count Olaf waiting. Count Olaf was talking about how he was sorry for the way he acted and that he should try again. He made them some oatmeal and they ate wondering if it was poisoned. Count Olaf then said that he would like the kids to star in his play the Marvelous Marriage. When Count Olaf left, the kids went over to Justice Strauss and borrowed some books because they thought Count Olaf was up t something. Klaus read one of the books all night and read that a possible plan is that when Violet says “I do.” in her part, Count Olaf would actually marry her and then take the inheritance of the Baudelaire family. Klaus woke up early and when he saw Count Olaf come down, he felt very confident. He explained what he thought was Count Olaf's plan was and Count Olaf said that Klaus got him. He told Klaus to tell his sisters and he did. First, he woke up Violet and broke the news which shocked Violet. Then, when they went to get Sunny, they didn't find her anywhere near. They noticed Count Olaf in the doorway. They followed him outside to the backyard and there, they found a birdcage hanging at the top of a tall tower. In the birdcage was none other than Sunny. Count Olaf said that Violet has to marry Count Olaf or Sunny will be dropped thirty feet right to the solid ground. Violet said yes and the day of the play came fast. Violet and Klaus were putting their costumes on thinking hard about what they can do to stop the marriage. The ultimate problem is building up fast. Violet must marry Count Olaf and give up the inheritance or Sunny will receive a gigantic plunge to the ground and time is ticking away. Violet has to do anything to save her inheritance and Sunny. A connection I have with Violet is how she gave up for the safety of Sunny. I would give up anything to make sure my younger sister is safe. A prediction I have is that Violet will run out of time and she will marry Count Olaf. A question I have is why must Count Olaf be such a sick man. He is being so dirty by threatening someone with a baby's death.

Title of Text: Diary of a Wimpy Kid-Rodrick Rules
Minutes: 45
Summary: Rodrick's science fair project was due soon but he spent his time stalling and watching TV. He then came up with an idea from one of his shows. It said that when you are in space, you grow taller. Rodrick spent a long time trying to finish but when he handed it in, it was not accepted. They said it didn't have the scientific process involved. Then Rodrick heard about the talent show and started forgetting about anything else. On the day of the show, Rodrick's band was being taped by mom because Greg did not accept. When they performed, mom started dancing so they couldn't see what was happening. They later watched the school's tape and the only thing they taped was mom dancing. Rodrick was depressed for a while and he was mad at Greg. He decided to whip out Greg's biggest secret. He told all his friends that one time at a hotel, he accidentally got trapped in the women's bathroom. Somehow, the details got mixed up and people thought Greg was a spy that watched girls in the bathroom. Greg suddenly became famous except to the girls. Greg also felt bad about Rodrick failing to get a video so he decided to help him on his project for the last time. They spent all day and actually came up with good results. Greg was famous, and Rodrick had something to turn in for the science fair. It looked like they were equal.

Title of Text: Stormbreaker
Minutes: 55
Summary: Alex Rider is an average kid with an uncle named Ian Rider. One day, he got news from “funeral voices” telling him that his uncle had died in a car accident. In school, many kids were staring at him because they probably felt bad. After school, Alex went to the main office and borrowed a copy of the yellow pages. He wanted to look for any near by junkyards to try and find his uncle's car. He saw one with the title Stryker and Son, the same name he saw on the van holding his uncle's coffin. He rode his bike to the junkyard, parked, and started searching. When he started to give up, he finally found the car, a BMW. He didn't see anything wrong except for a broken window, but when he looked at the other side, he froze. The car had bullet holes all over the side. All Alex wanted to find out was who shot the car. When Alex decided to leave, some guys spotted him. One tried to strangle him, but with a kick to the stomach, Alex broke free. When Alex arrived, he noticed that his uncle's office was unlocked, which it usually wasn't. When he came in, the room was entirely empty, except for the tables, bookcases, and furniture. All his papers and materials—gone. He was shocked at what had happened. A connection I have with Alex is that when he saw his uncle's office empty, he was shocked. I as well would be frozen if I saw a whole room full one day ago, and completely empty the next day.
A question I have is who shot the car that Ian Rider was in? I am itching to know. A prediction I have is that Alex will soon find out who killed his uncle.

Title of Text: Stormbreaker
Minutes: 110
Summary: When Alex came home the next day, he noticed a group of people inside the house investigating. Some people were talking to him then said that they were going to check his Uncle's office. Alex was wondering what was going on so he decided to climb down the flag pole to the window of his office. When he came inside, the two guys talking to him came as if they were expecting him. At that moment, the guard pulled out his gun and shot him with a poison dart. When he woke up, he was in a lab and the guys who talked to him explained that his uncle worked for them. They also thought he was brave so they decided to recruit him to the group. They chose him because of his impressive karate skills and the fact that he risked his life to satisfy his curiosity. Alex was assigned to the group K Squad. The members were Wolf, Bear, Eagle, and Snake. Wolf was the leader and they didn't like each other. One time in a practice mission, before Alex completed it, Wolf pushed him back, causing him to set off the trip line. He sat there as the stun grenade made him momentarily blind. When Alex came outside looking beat up, Wolf got punished with clean up. In their next training, they had to jump off a plane, except for Alex because of his age. Alex noticed that Wolf was afraid of going down. Alex kicked him a couple times and Wolf went down. When Alex met up with him on the ground, Wolf thanked him. They seemed to make up considering the fact that they shook hands. A connection I have with Alex is how he helped Wolf off the plane. If I were Alex, I would give Wolf a push and get him off. It was the right thing to do and it helped Wolf. A question I have is what made Wolf suddenly like Alex? Before he left the plane, they hated each other, but after the drop, they were friends. It was weird.

Title of Text: Secret of the Spiritkeeper
Minutes: 45
Summary: Zendric's student Kellach grabbed a colorful ball when Zendric quickly took it back and shouted at him. He kicked him and his friend Driskoll out of the building. While they were leaving, they began to get chased by giants. Kellach and Driskoll stop after running a far distance. Luckily, 'watchers” or “the police” came and told the giants to stop. They went away and the kids were safe. While heading home, they decided to drop by Zendric's building. When they came in, they found Zendric lying on the floor with a busted lip and his eyes shut. My prediction is that Zendric will soon be thought of as a dead man but later “magically” come back to life and start teaching Kellach more magic. A question I have is how did Zendric get into his deep sleep? I'm very curious. My opinion on this book so far is that it is a fascinating book. Plenty of action which is my favorite, and an interesting plot so far.

Title of Text: Secret of the Spiritkeeper
Minutes: 45
Summary: At first Kellach and Driskoll thought he was dead but some watchers came in a couple minutes later and said he was in a deep sleep. The kids were relieved but Driskoll's father took them outside and had an angry tirade. The kids couldn't bear to hear his shouting any longer. A couple minutes later, a priest named Lexos actually tried to call his soul to return. He said that his soul has went away. Kellach and Driskoll later leave and decide that they should try to find Zendric's soul. A connection I have with Driskoll and Kellach is that they both thought that Zendric was dead at first. My first thought would be the same. My prediction is that Kellach will join a special force called Knights of the Silver Dragon and search for Zendric's soul. My opinion on this book is that it is great. I love how Kellach is doing everything in his power to get Zendric back.

Title of Text: Diary of a Wimpy Kid II-Rodrick Rules
Minutes: 45
Summary: Greg, the main character has a new journal and starts off with swim class. He said that he doesn't like his swim meets because of many reasons. He once pulled a prank on a kid named Chirag Gupta by acting like he was invisible when he came back to school. Soon, Greg had to go to the principle's office but luckily, he got off the hook. When he came home though, his mom got a call and Greg tried to lie his way out. Turned out, Greg failed. He later had to apologize to Chirag and they made up. Two days later, Rowley (Greg's best friend) had his birthday party. Rowley and Greg were the only 5th graders there. The rest were tiny kids from Rowley's karate club. Greg thought the party was weird. Greg bought Rowley a video game. Later, Rowley (Greg's brother) and Greg both complained that they were running out of money so their mm made a plan called mommy bucks. When they turned in mommy bucks, they got one cent each. Greg wasn't so sure but decided to save his. A connection I have with Greg is how he felt around such small kids. If I were at my friend's b-day party with a lot of little kids, I would feel a slight feeling of weirdness. A question I have is why doesn't Rowley have many friends as old as him. It just seems weird. A prediction I have is that Greg will turn in mommy bucks and get a fine stack of money. My opinion on this book is that it is funny which I expected. Many jokes throughout the pages I read. I recommend it to everyone because it has a lot of laughs.

Title of Text: Diary of a Wimpy Kid II-Rodrick Rules
Minutes: 70
Summary: When Greg's parents were going to leave the house, Rodrick faked being sick. When they left, Rodrick got up and called all his friends to party. Greg was about to tell his parents but decided to instead, try and get in the party. Sadly, Greg got tricked and he was left locked outside of the room. A couple hours later everyone left, then Greg and Rodrick had a quick clean up. They had to replace Rodrick's door because someone wrote on it. When the parents came home, the dad poked around everywhere to make sure everything was okay. They seemed clear but then the dad noticed the door seemed different. He then decided that he might just be seeing things. Rodrick knew that if dad started questioning, Rodrick could always use lying unlike Greg who wasn't so good. A couple days later, Greg met Rowley's new “babysitter” Leland. They all played a game called “Magick and Monsters.” (They really spell it as magick) When Greg's mom came over to make sure the game was okay, Greg felt so restricted because he couldn't use any violence. He was under intense pressure. A connection I have with Greg is how much pressure he felt when he played near his mom. If I were playing that game and my mom or dad was watching me, I would feel like I couldn't do anything. My prediction is that either mom or dad will somehow find out about the party and that Greg and Rodrick will be busted for a long time. A question I have is why would someone draw on a door in the first place? It's weird for someone to draw on a door as a teenager.

Title of Text: Diary of a Wimpy Kid
Minutes: 45
Summary: Once after school, Rowley and Greg were on the blacktop when a bunch of teenagers started grabbing Greg and Rowley. Some of the teenagers actually made Rowley eat the cheese that was sitting at their school for a year. Rowley was disgusted but Greg found a way to get away from eating it. A couple days after that, Rowley has been hanging out with his new friend. Then, on the blacktop at recess, a bunch of kids noticed the cheese was gone. Rowley started to shake because he was scared of what would happen. Then, Greg decided to say that he was the one who touched the cheese and that he had the cheese touch. Everyone ran away because if Greg touched them, they would get the cheese touch. Rowley was so thankful and they ended up becoming friends again. A connection I have with Greg is how he saved Rowley. I may not have done it the same way Greg did, but I would certainly try to help a friend. My opinion on this book is a 10 out of 10. It definitely had a lot of laughs and each page was fun to read. I recommend this book to everyone.

Title of Text: The Best School Year Ever
Minutes: 70
Summary: This book started off introducing the Herdman family. This family is full of kids who are mean and who smoke. One of the kids was bad because he put his cat in a washing machine! When it came out, it growled at everyone while wearing a tablecloth. It later caused another problem by crawling up trees and making people call 911. Awkwardly, the child barely got in trouble. The kid only got a talk with his parents. Another kid named Leroy had a weird story. He got bit by a snake once and then kept the snake which eventually died. He pulled a prank on a teacher because he sneaked the snake into a closet. When the teacher opened it, she and the kids burst into screams. The principal had to come and calm everyone down. Then, Leroy went at it again by sharpening the dead snake! It made everyone afraid to get near the sharpener. The next day, he skipped school to bury his snake underground as its funeral. He later ended up being Student of the Month. His mother seemed highly confused and he didn't get in trouble at all luckily. A connection I have with Leroy's mother is how she reacted to Leroy's whole incident. If I learned he earned Student of the Month, I would be proud, just like his mother. A question I have is what caused them to be so bad? They are young but they smoke and they make a lot of bad choices. A prediction I have is that they will share more about the Herdman kids. It's just that they have not explained all the kids but they already mentioned two. My opinion on this book so far is an 7 out of 10. Not much action yet so I can't give it a 10. Action is what I love in a book.

Title of Text: Diary of a Wimpy Kid-The Last Straw
Minutes: 80
Summary: Greg Heffley is a kid who tried to one day, help his family with their New Year's Resolution. He couldn't manage to help anyone though. A couple days of boredom later, he and his friend Rowley decided to make a time capsule and bury it. At Greg's house, there was someone stealing snacks so they had to all eat fruit. For snacktime, Greg got upset, and he couldn't buy anything because he didn't have any more money. In his classes, he completely zoned out because he didn't have energy without sweets. He later decided to take the money they had put in the time capsule. He was upset that he had to mess with it. He managed a soda, a candy bar, and a bag of gummy bears out of a vending machine. A week later, the dance came up, and Greg tried to ask his crush to dance with him. When he came close, a guy came up and stopped him in his tracks. A connection I have is about how long their time capsule lasted. If I made a time capsule, I would get give up and dig it up in about a couple days. A prediction I have is that Greg will try to ask his crush to hang out because I think he felt bad about missing out on his chance at the dance. A question I have is why would anyone steal the snacks anyway? It's not like the person or people aren't getting any.

Title of Text: Diary of a Wimpy Kid-The Last Straw
Minutes: 50
Summary: Greg's dad thinks he needs to whip Greg into shape. He decides to sign him up for soccer, but Greg doesn't like it. His team won the first two games but lost in the third because Greg got distracted by flowers. Later, his dad brought Greg and Rodrick to the movie theater. The guy taking tickets was actually a teenager who attended Spag Union, a military school. When they leave, Greg's dad says that he will sign him up. Greg tries everything in his power to stop him and he decides to go to Boy Scouts. On his first day, he earns a whittling badge. When he shows his dad, he gets impressed, but when the father-son camping trip comes, dad gets upset about how Greg can't come and how he has to be stuck with 2 teenagers that horse around. For a couple days, Greg and his dad barely spoke to each other. A connection I have with Greg is about how he tried hard to not go to Spag Union. If I were threatened to go there, I would come up with as many other good ideas as I can. A prediction I have is that Greg's father will make Greg quit Boy Scouts and join Spag Union. A question I have is why is Greg's dad being so forceful? He's making him do a lot of things just to get in shape. I think he needs to slow down a bit. My opinion on the book is that this book is hilarious. In some pages, the dialogue is so funny. I can't stop reading. I hope there is a next Diary of a Wimpy Kid book.

Title of Text: Diary of a Wimpy Kid-The Last Straw
Minutes: 50
Summary: Greg, his dad, and Rodrick go on a fun trip to camp but since it was raining, they decided to go to a hotel. That didn't work out either because Rodrick just had to pull a prank on Greg. When they came home, Greg's dad seemed very serious about sending him to Spag Union. A couple days later, the Heffley family went to their neighbor's house to celebrate the birthday of their baby. All the adults lined up so they could try to make the baby laugh. They do this because they want to be on America's Funniest Families. Right when they start, Manny messes with the gifts and throws one up a tree. Greg tries to get it and when Greg's dad's turn comes, Greg's pants suddenly fall down, showing his Wonder Woman underoos. Luckily, they get it on tape and submit it. That's when the Heffleys leave. The next day, Greg woke up wondering why he isn't being shipped off yet. He sees his dad downstairs- not dressed yet. It seems that Greg's dad was so thankful that he won't ship Greg off to Spag Union. Greg was happy and he thought everything was going his way again.

Title of Text: Diary of a Wimpy Kid
Minutes: 90
Summary: Greg Heffley is a boy who got this journal from his mom. He writes in it whenever something important happens. One time, he ran for treasurer, but he lost to a very smart person. In his gym class, the teacher decided to have a wrestling unit. Everyone but Greg is able to fight. Greg thinks that he needs to buff up. He thinks that when they have a football unit, he would be glad to be on the skins teams. A couple of days later, he loses interest and decides to go back to playing video games. His mom suddenly signs Greg up for the play because she thinks it is good to experiment. Greg was so not with the idea that when the day of the show was on, he ruined it and the play had to be shut down. Halloween came around and Greg came with his best friend Rowley. They lost some time because of their dad talking to others but they made up some of it by ditching his dad. On their way back though, some kids splashed their candy so when they came home, they only had a couple of sweets. On Christmas, Manny, his little brother got every single thing he wanted for Christmas. Greg, on the other hand only got a sweater and a book. He was pretty upset. When he came in the garage though, his dad was next to a weight lifting set. Greg lost the spirit but instead of being psyched about it, he simply thanked him. A prediction I have is that Greg will just go to Rowley's house to have fun instead. A question I have is why does Greg get all the lame gifts? It doesn't seem fair. Even Rodrick got what he wanted!

Title of Text: The Chronicles of Narnia-The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
Minutes: 45
Summary: When the girls open their eyes, they see nothing but Aslan, the stone table, and the empty forest. They sit next to him and then start walking up and down a hill until morning. When they come back, the find the stone table cracked in half and Aslan standing normally. He explains that with deep magic comes deeper magic. He used the deeper magic to return to life. They come back and decide to start a war. It's between Aslan, Peter, Lucy, Edmund, Susan, and Aslan's army against the White Witch and her army. In the end, after minutes of brutal fighting, Aslan and his crew come out on top. They go to a place called Cair Paravel and Edmund, Peter, Susan, and Lucy become kings and queens. They control Narnia for a long time and after years, they come out of Narnia and return as their normal selves. As kids again. And the weird thing is, the maid is still talking to a group of people. The same as when the kids left for Narnia. My opinion for the entire book is... 10 out of 10, 2 thumbs up, 5 out of 5, and everything else that means perfect. The action really elevated throughout the story. I enjoyed it very much.

Title of Text: No More Magic
Minutes: 45
Summary: A kid named Chris went trick or treating with his friends. They rode their bikes to Chris's house to finish their costume's last touches. When they leave, they stay out for a while. When Chris comes home, he notices that his bike is gone. He later tells a cop about it and the cop says he will keep an eye out for it. A couple days after Chris reported to the cop, he got a call saying that a man saw someone riding his bike. Chris decides to get a new bike until he gets his old one and he goes to the person caught riding his old bike. My prediction for next time is that Chris will ask the person about his bike and if she knows. I also predict that the person will act as if she didn't do anything. A question I have is why does Chris love that old bike of his so much?

Thursday, March 12
Title of Text: No More Magic
Minutes: 90
Summary: When Chris talks to the person, he learns that it's a girl and that she is named Muffin. He talks to her and reveals that she had a warlock costume, but it was stolen so she became a nurse. He and she decide to look more into the mystery as a team. The next day, when Chris is about to sleep, he notices a Warlock looking person riding a bike through the skies! Not only that, but he also sees that the Warlock is riding his old, green bike! The next day, he tells his best friend and luckily, he believes Chris. Now, Chris has two people helping him. He decides to ask around if they have seen the bike. Their first person is Mr. Podler who lives at the top of a hill. When they come, the man is all mean to them, acting rude to them. My prediction is that Eddie (Chris's friend) and Chris will continue to ask around. I also predict that Chris will see the Warlock fly through the sky again.

Sunday, March 15
Title of Text: No More Magic
Minutes: 30
Summary: Mr. Podler tells them what he saw and Chris ends up collecting good information. Mr. Podler was walking through the woods when a bike was approaching him with a checkered person on it. Chris realizes that it sounds a lot like the warlock Chris saw. The next day, Chris checks on Muffin to see what information she got. She found that it was not Eddie, and she also used the time Chris bought a bike from Mr. Bullen. When the Mayor told Chris the winner had small feet, he knew that Mr. Bullen had small feet. Also, since grownups can't be in the contest, he didn't put his name in when he won. He also didn't want Chris to take the green bike which meant that it was most likely Mr. Bullen! My prediction is that Chris, Muffin, and Eddie will go visit Mr. Bullen and ask him about the bike. I also predict that he will be guilty. My question is, why would Mr. Bullen not want Chris to take the green bike?

Title of Text: The Chronicles of Narnia-The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
Minutes: 45
Summary: The four kids hide from the professor in the wardrobe and Peter notices that he is sitting on something wet. Susan ended up sitting against a tree. They turned around and noticed that they were in the world of Narnia. Edmund admits that he went to Narnia before and they all vote Lucy leader of the group. Lucy decides to go to the faun's house. When they arrived, there was a note saying that the faun has been arrested. They came out wondering where the faun could possibly be. While walking through the woods, they notice a robin flying from tree to tree. The group of kids decide to follow the bird until a couple trees later, the bird shoots off, flying far away. They then notice a talking beaver. It tells them to follow it to its home where they can talk about the faun. They decide that the beaver can be trusted and the kids follow it. A connection I have with Edmund is how wise he is being. He is always wondering if this or that can be trusted. If I were him, I would do the same to keep myself and others safe. My prediction is that they will talk about the faun and the beaver will tell them who arrested him. My opinion on the book so far is... 4.5 out of five, 9 out of 10, a fantastic book for both young and old readers.

Wednesday, March 4
Title of Text: The Chronicles of Narnia-The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
Minutes: 30
Summary: The group of kids go to the beaver's house. There, they talk about the great Aslan, king of Narnia who visits rarely. The beaver tells them that they must visit Aslan and join him to fight the White Witch. Edmund, the boy who talked to the White Witch, sneaked out of the house and headed over to the White Witch's castle. When he gets there, he talks to the White Witch. He tells her about the fact that Aslan will come. My prediction is that the White Witch will think of a plan while the kids leave the beaver's house. A question I have is why did Edmund have to turn to the dark side by joining the White Witch? Anybody could figure out that the White Witch was trying to persuade him or her if they were in the place of Edmund.

Thursday, March 5
Title of Text: The Chronicles of Narnia-The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
Minutes: 30
Summary: The White Witch decides to hunt down the kids before they reach the great Aslan. Meanwhile, the kids and the beaver head out to search for Aslan hoping that the White Witch will not catch them. With the howling and unbearable winds, they get slowed down a lot. My prediction is that the White Witch will hunt down the kids just as the kids reach Aslan at the tip of an island. The race began and it's exciting already. My opinion on the book has definitely changed. Two thumbs up, 10 out of 10, 5 out of 5, and whatever means perfect. The book is getting better and better every page. The action has really sunk in and I have a good picture in my mind. A question I have is why did Aslan have to be so far from the kids? It's a long walk from the beaver's house to Aslan. I just don't get it.

Sunday, March 8
Title of Text: The Chronicles of Narnia-The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
Minutes: 100
Summary: The group of kids decide to camp out at night. Meanwhile, the Witch and Edmund leave to find them. When the kids get up, they run into a man named Father Christmas. He gives the beavers presents, and the three kids presents. Peter gets a sword and a shield, Susan gets a bow and a sack of arrows, and Lucy gets a bottle of a healing potion. When they meet Aslan in a nearby place, Aslan asks about Edmund. Meanwhile, the Witch sends a wolf to find the kids. When the wolf arrives, Peter slays the wolf just before it could cause harm. While the wolf was out, the Witch tied Edmund to a tree and prepared to harm him when suddenly, part of Aslan's army saves him. Edmund gets untied then faints from all the commotion. When Edmund wakes up the next day, he joins the other kids and Aslan once again. He apologizes to the kids and they spend the day forgetting about the past and moving on. The White Witch comes over and makes an agreement with Aslan but nobody else heard it. At night, Peter and Edmund fall asleep easily, but Lucy and Susan can't sleep. They decide to come out and find Aslan. They spot Aslan, but soon, Aslan notices he's been followed. He lets them follow him near the Stone Table, but then asks them to leave. When they do, they decide to hide behind bushes. They see that Aslan is about to become hurt. The White Witch pulls out her knife and stands at Aslan's side. The two girls cover their eyes, waiting for the mystery event to be over.

Title: Eddie and the Jets
Minutes: 45
Summary: Eddie and his football team called the Juniper Street Jets face Kirby Carpenter's Giants. As always, Eddie came out in the bottom with a score of 35-14. When he came home to watch the real Jets' game, the announcer gave him a great idea—a new team. The next day, without consulting teammates Kenny and Mikey, he “drafts” the new kids called Marty and Sean. Kenny and Mikey soon find out and decide to make their own team. When Eddie comes to practice with his new team for the first time, he reveals that Sean can't catch good and Marty runs bad and trips a lot. Bobby is same old with his good catching and running. Eddie is still the quarterback. Their first practice was good, but not great. My prediction is that Eddie will try very hard to teach Marty and Sean the proper ways to play and help them improve. My opinion on Eddie's decision not to tell Kenny and Mikey is that it was a pretty bad choice. If I were put in that situation, I would probably tell them that they simply have to go and then go get two new players. Doing it behind their backs is wrong.

Tuesday, February 24
Title: Eddie and the Jets
Minutes: 55
Summary: In their next couple of practices, not everyone could make it. On one practice, only Bobby and Eddie showed up. When Eddie threw a long ball to Bobby, he dove for it, scraping his arm on impact. When they came to Bobby's house, Bobby's sister Jackie helped him heal. While she did it, Eddie got “lost in her eyes.” A couple days later, Eddie's dad decides to go away from home to start a “new life.” At the schoolyard, a fight breaks between Eddie and Kirby when Kirby mentions something mean about Eddie's dad. Eddie gets an injury from Kirby slamming Eddie's head on the ground. Two days, later, he goes over to Jackie while Bobby and Eddie's mom are away. They chat and Eddie asks her to go get some pizza with him. After a couple giggles, Jackie accepts. At Louie's Pizza, they chat and eat, talking about school. Eddie seems to enjoy being around Jackie. A prediction I have is that Eddie will continue hanging out with Jackie whenever he can. From clues in the story, Eddie seems to like Jackie a lot. He always thinks of her and can “see her everywhere he looks.” From what I've read so far, I think this book has an interesting storyline. I would definitely recommend it to any sports fans—especially Jets fans.

Wednesday, February 25
Title of Text: Eddie and the Jets
Minutes: 45
Summary: The next few practices weren't doing so good. Marty and Sean had their usual problems, Bobby was dropping a few easy throws, and Eddie couldn't stop thinking about Jackie. Eddie and Jackie have been hanging out a lot lately. One day, when they were walking home from the pizza place, they took their first kiss. Eddie was loosing his football talent. A couple days, later, after a perfect practice, they went over to Bobby's house. While nobody was looking, Eddie sneaked up to Jackie's room. There, they kissed again. Bobby came in, shocked completely. He grabbed Eddie and dragged him down stairs and threw him out. He quit the team. It was down to Marty, Sean, and Eddie. While walking home, Marty and Sean decide to quit as well. It was down to Eddie and he had to forfeit. Eddie wanted to talk to Jackie but he was afraid Bobby would tear him to shreds. A question I have about Bobby is why did he get that upset? Eddie didn't deserve that. Bobby took it way to hard. A prediction I have is that when Eddie has to tell Kirby the truth, Eddie will get made fun of by everybody.

Thursday, February 26
Title of Text: Eddie and the Jets
Minutes: 30
Summary: As Eddie's life started to fall apart, he decides to try to get back the original team. Kenny, Mikey, Bobby, and Eddie. Just like the old days. He gives Kenny a call and begs for him to come back. Status on Kenny: on the team. He gives Mikey a call and begs him back. Status on Mikey: on the team. Now, Eddie had to deal with the toughest one, Bobby. They go to his house and there, Eddie admits that he is very sorry for what happened. After a couple minutes, Bobby comes back. The next day, they face Kirby and the Giants. With all new plays, they get to the closest they've ever been in. The final score was 35-28............... Kirby's team on top. Kirby went over to Eddie. This time, instead of a mean comment, he compliments them. When Eddie came home, he saw his dad waiting with his stuff. He's staying home. Eddie finally has his dad back, his friends back, and he's going to try to work things out with Jackie. My opinion on this book is that this was truly amazing. In every page, there were either sad moments, or action packed moments. I don't know anyone who wouldn't read this book. I definitely recommend this book to everyone.

Sunday, March 1
Title of Text: The Chronicles of Narnia-The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
Minutes: 70
Summary: A group of four kids come to a professor's house. They explore the house's many rooms until they come upon a room with a wardrobe in it. They soon get bored and leave except for one kid named Lucy. She goes inside the wardrobe as deep into it as possible. When she gets pretty far, she sees a light, then something soft under her feet. She notices that she entered a world called Narnia. A faun (look at the animal in the picture) greets her and welcomes her to Narnia. It invites Lucy to its house to have tea and food. While she is there, the faun admits a secret. He was supposed to turn Lucy in to the White Witch who made the place have winter all the time. The faun apologized and quickly got her out of Narnia. When Lucy came back, she told the others about Narnia, but they didn't believe her. The next day, the group decided to play hide and seek. Lucy hid in the wardrobe and another kid named Edmund followed her. Edmund became lost in the wardrobe until he finally fell in Narnia. A sleigh suddenly came in flying and landed hard next to Edmund. The White Witch asked for Edmund's name, then made a deal with him. Edmund would have to bring all the others with him to the White Witch's castle where Edmund could become Prince and have all the Turkish Delight he wanted. When Edmund tried to head back to the wardrobe, he met up with Lucy. She was surprised Edmund got into Narnia. When they came out, Lucy told the others that she and Edmund went to Narnia. Edmund didn't want to be foolish so he said that Lucy was lying. Lucy became upset and ran to her room. Edmund, Susan, and Peter later talked to the professor about Lucy's story. The possibilities they came up with were that she was making it up, or she was telling the truth. The only people that know Narnia are Edmund and Lucy but Edmund won't admit it. The prediction I have is that Edmund will try to convince them that Narnia is real and he will get them to go to the White Witch's castle.

Title of Text: Hover Car Racer Crash Course
Minutes: 104
Summary: A 14-year old kid named Jason Chaser is a hover car racer looking to go to the Hover Car Racing School. He entered the final race for the invitation. The objective was to zoom through as many gates as possible in 3 hours and come back. Nine minutes into the race, a kid smashes into Jason, costing Jason a whole lot of time. When the race ends, he finishes dead last. When he returned to his pit zone, a guy named Syracuse was waiting for him. He asked him to draw his route on a map, then Syracuse ave Jason another map with the regular route. He was surprised by Jason's choice and he later invites Jason to the school. There, he gets assigned Syracuse as his mentor. On their first day, they practiced pit stops for hours. A couple days later, they have their first race. Jason doesn't finish because he decided to save fellow racer Ariel Piper from a crash. A connection I have with Jason is that instead of finishing in 5th place, he decided to save a fellow racer from suffering a severe crash. If I were put in that situation, I would most likely do the same because I'd much rather have everyone servive than have me finishing the race and one other driver dying. A prediction I have is that Syracuse will be upset about Jason's decision even though Jason did the better thing.

Sunday, February 22
Title of Text: Hover Car Racer Crash Course
Minutes: 100
Summary: As the other races go by, Jason tries to get 1st place in each so he can participate in the Sponsors Race where sponsors look for racers that may grow up to become one of the greatest. Jason continues to fail until their last chance, Race 25 comes to town. With a shortcut that's tricky but useful, the decision at the end is hard to make. Jason and the other competitors race their hearts out to the finish, but in the end, Jason came out leading the pack by just over 1.60 seconds. He gets the invitation to the Sponsors Race and achieves one of the best challenges the race school has ever seen. A connection I have with Jason is that despite the fact that he always came close to 1st, he never gave up. I wouldn't give up if I wanted a spot in the Sponsors Race. I would keep my head up high and take on the race with full strength. A question I have is that if they make a sequel, will they put a lot of new characters. Its just that I heard the same names a lot and I want things to change. Maybe also a lot more girls in the school. There are only two that they mention. It doesn't seem right.

Title of Text: A Deadly Game of Magic
Minutes: 60
Summary: Four friends named Lisa, Bo, Julian, and Teena were heading home from a contest when their car suddenly broke down. They went over to someone's house and asked for the phone. They went inside and called the Auto Club. The guys that let them inside didn't actually live there. The two people left the house leaving the kids alone. They soon started to get scared from the storm. Lisa goes near a hallway and notices one open door. She decided to stay away. They found a magic object called a guillotine. It snaps stuff into two. They think the house belongs to a magician. Later, a lady with a package for the house owner came by. She explained to the kids about the magic stuff. Turns out, she watches the old lady that lives in the house. She brought her husband's magic stuff over to the house when her husband died. Now, she's marries again but needs to be taken care of. A prediction I have for the story is that they will decide to go to that one room that's open. Many mysteries are waiting to be revealed behind that door and they might find them. A connection I have with Teena is that she had no idea what a guillotine was. She was about to have a split finger but someone saved her. When the book first mentioned the word guillotine, I was clueless about what that was. A question I have for the book is why did the woman keep her dead husband's equipment?

Tuesday, February 3
Title of Text: A Deadly Game of Magic
Minutes: 50
Summary: The guy from the Auto Club named Sam comes but refuses to fix the car. Lisa then explains the open room at the hallway. Sam checks it and when he gets near, he faints. Lisa and Julian go to the kitchen for a wet towel. Bo and Teena join them later but when they come back, Sam is gone. He left with his truck. They later watch for weather alerts. Lisa, Julian and Teena go to the kitchen for something to eat. When they return, the chair next to Bo has a head on it. When they get in front, it's just a head made of plaster. Bo and the rest of the gang start to think someone else is in the house trying to get them out. My prediction for next time I read is that they'll find this mystery person and see how dangerous it is in this house. A connection I have with the gang of 4 is that they all are getting really terrified if they see something scary. I would do the same and chicken out if I saw that head next to Bo. A question I have is why might that mystery person be trying to get them out of the house?

Thursday, February 5
Title of Text: A Deadly Game of Magic
Minutes: 50
Summary: The four friends start talking to each other when a frightening whisper comes from nowhere. They blame it on Bo but he says he is not doing it. Then, another magician's tool comes up. A fake hand that is robotic taps on Lisa's head and she freaks out. Then they see a flying ball of light. It's another magic trick where two things control the ball to make it look like it's flying. The group follow the ball to the kitchen and find a dog. It's black and has no tag. When the four people start chatting in the kitchen, the dog sneaks out. Julian and Bo decide to look for it. Lisa and Teena start to go look for them when Julian comes back to the kitchen. He lost Bo so he decided to come back. Lisa, Teena, and Julian come out to find Bo. A connection I have with Lisa is her reaction to the fake hand trick. She was startled out of her mind and shrieked very loudly. If a fake hand started tapping my head, I would scream my lungs out. My prediction for next time is that they'll continue to search for the the dog and Bo.

Sunday, February 8
Tittle of Text: A Deadly Game of Magic
Minutes: 75
Summary: Lisa, Julian, and Teena continued searching. They found the dog in the car in the garage. When they started searching for Bo, they decided to check the black room with the magic items. There it was, Bo's head on a plate held by a fake butler. It was an illusion though and they pulled Bo out. They then go to a room and find more clues from letters sent to the house. Suddenly, they heard the police at the door but when they checked, they saw it was just a trick. They go back inside and they planned that they should go head on with this mystery person. They knew it was a magician so they decided to use black on black. The magician is covered in black for camouflage so they will try to beat him at his own game. A connection I have with Bo is how much he cared for the dog. It was lonely and lost. If a dog was begging for shelter in my home, I would definitely take it in. I would care for it because of what it's been through. My prediction is that they'll try to make this mysterious person stop doing what he is doing and get out of the house alive. I have one question though. Why might this person be torturing Lisa, Teena, Bo, and Julian? They never did anything wrong.

Title of Text: Walk Two Moons
Minutes: 60
Summary: She came over to Phoebe's house who looked very frightened. Phoebe showed her three envelopes. One for Phoebe, one for Prudence (Phoebe's sister), and one for her father. All of them were from Phoebe's mom. They all read their envelope. Prudence has to cook for the family. Phoebe's said to take care of herself. And the one for her dad said that she just had to run away. Phoebe believes her mother was kidnapped by the “Lunatic” but her father pointed out that it's impossible because the “Lunatic” wouldn't give her time to write these letters. They sat down and ate dinner in silence. Also, Phoebe and Salamanca found another strange message. It quotes, “In the course of a lifetime, what does it matter?” A connection I have with Phoebe is about how she looked. Phoebe was frightened about the fact that her mom ran away. She almost cried. I would feel frightened as well. It's scary for your mother to run away with you not knowing about it. My prediction for the next time I read is that the Winterbottom family will wait a couple days for their mother to come back. The mother promised to call them. She may come back if the family can persuade her.

Tuesday, January 27
Title of Text: Walk Two Moons
Minutes: 60
Summary: Salamanca, and her grandparents stop at a place called the “Badlands.” There are purple and pink rocks and a scary hill that's steep. Salamanca's grandparents rested on a blanket. The grandma has trouble talking due to the snake bite. While they're there, there is a pregnant woman standing alone so they invited her to the blanket to rest. The pregnant stomach reminded Salamanca of when her mom was pregnant. Salamanca was so close to having a sister but the baby died in the tummy. The chord rapped around and squeezed her neck. Back at Phoebe's place, Salamanca and Phoebe receive another envelope with a piece of paper. This one quotes, “You can't keep the birds of sadness from flying over your head, but you can keep them from nesting in your hair.” Salamanca and Phoebe are starting to think there's a connection between the “Lunatic” and the message-leaver. They're trying to prove it. A connection I have is about my mom when she lost her twins during the first quarter of her pregnancy. The babies had no heartbeat so the doctor had to take them out. I was only 5 years old so I wasn't aware of it. But when I think about it now, I always wish they never had to die. It would have been fun to have two more siblings, especially to have a brother or brothers. It's heart breaking for a baby to die when you haven't even named it. I'm sure anyone would cry if that happened to them. My prediction is that Phoebe's mom will contact them by phone once in a while and soon come back. As for Salamanca, I think she'll find the “Lunatic” at some random place again. A lot of mysteries going on in he book. I have one question though. Is there a sequel to this book like ummm... Title of Text: Walk Two Moons
Minutes: 60
Summary: Phoebe and Salamanca went to the police station. They tried to tell the cops about Phoebe's mom's disappearance. But the police man just didn't take them serious. He thought all of this was a joke and nothing mattered. The next day, they went back to the station. Once again, the police man thought it was all a trick. Phoebe got very angry. When the police man left his desk, Salamanca took a peek at the pictures on the desk. One of them had the cop's son in it. Salamanca recognized the son. It was the lunatic. Salamanca was puzzled about this. They went home and found yet another mysterious message. This one quotes, “We never know the worth of water until the well is dry.” Phoebe thought that this is a clue about her mom's disappearance. She may be in a well but Salamanca disagrees. A connection I have with Phoebe is how she felt. She got furious when the cop didn't take them seriously. If I was dealing with a huge problem like Phoebe and someone thought I was joking, I'd get really angry. When you're dealing with a tough problem, you need all the help you can get. You can't just have people laughing at you. A prediction I have is that they'll try one more time to get the cop's trust. Like they say, “3rd time's the charm!”

Summary: Phoebe and Salamanca make a plan to find out who the lunatic is. They ride a bus to a university and try to find Phoebe's mom and the lunatic. They find both of them at a bench kissing. When Phoebe and Salamanca come to Phoebe's home, they get a call from Phoebe's mom saying she's coming back, but with a person. Phoebe's mom explains that she's been married before and the lunatic is her son. The dad welcomes the lunatic into the family. Salamanca and Phoebe later decide to leave. When they come out, they see an old lady putting an envelope on the front steps. They read it. It quotes, “You can't judge a man until you've walked two moons in his moccasins.” Salamanca explains that they received this quote already and she asks why she is doing it. The old lady says that she thinks it's fun passing out messages. It's sort of like fortune cookies. Speaking of mothers, when Salamanca and her grandparents start driving again, they see Salamanca's mom's grave. Her name and years of life are engraved on the stone. Salamanca was devastated. They stay with it for a while then leave. On the trip to a hotel, Salamanca's grandma has a stroke. When they bring her to the hospital, she dies at 3:00 A.M. Salamanca is now living happily in Bybanks again with her father and grandpa. A connection I have with Salamanca is that she felt completely shattered when she saw her mom's grave. On the mother's birthday, she has to die. If my mom died, especially on her birthday, and nobody told me, I would be devastated to find it all out. It would upset my whole family. I read the whole book and I loved it. I recommend it to everyone. It's got action, and mystery mixed together to make a delightful book.

Title of Text: Walk Two Moons
Summary: A girl named Salamanca and her grandparents are out to go on a road trip somewhere to Ohio. She does not feel good about it because she doesn't want to leave their farm. A couple days before she left, she met a round headed girl named Rachel. At her school in Kentucky, she tries to communicate with her but fails. Soon, she decides to sit next to her and be nice. They later ends up as friends and pretty good ones as well. They now hang out for long periods of time. A connection I have with Salamanca is that she loves to talk by comparing people to animals. She compares someone's speed to a horse's or their grace to bird's. I too love animals, especially pigs. They're pink, chubby, and hold tons of laughs. My prediction for the next time I read is that the bond between the two of them will grow even stronger and they'll do almost everything together. From what I've read, Salamanca totally misses the barn at her old home. She also loves to meet new people and act kind to them. Rachel on the other hand is very shy and she seems lonely. The only one I've ever seen her talk to is Salamanca. It's interesting how Salamanca and Rachel got along so fast. From the 30 pages I read, this book is pretty cool.

Summary: Salamanca and her good friend Phoebe starts receiving two mysterious letters from somebody unknown. One of them quotes, “You can't judge a man until you've walked two moons in his moccasins.” The other letter quotes, “Everyone has his own agenda.” They also meets a guy who strangely wants to meet Mrs. Winterbottom, Phoebe's mom. They start calling him the “Lunatic.” They saw the “Lunatic” paying the clerk at a drug store. Salamanca seemed a little frightened every time she saw the “Lunatic.” She always tried to avoid him. I can connect to the way she acted. I would also feel scared and avoid the “Lunatic.” Salamanca probably did that for her own protection. My prediction for the next time I pick up this book is that Salamanca will tell her mom or dad about the “Lunatic” and keep avoiding him. He's getting kind of suspicious for asking about Mrs. Winterbottom. I also predict that Salamanca and Phoebe will keep receiving strange messages from this mysterious person. A lot of excitement in this book so far with only about ¼ of it done which was very unexpected. I love it!

Title of Text: Walk Two Moons.
Summary: Salamanca, her grandpa, and her grandma continued the road trip to Ohio from Bybanks, Kentucky. Along the way, they see a beautiful river. The sun's heat was painful and was staring them down for quite a while. Everyone was exhausted and burning. So they decided to pull over and get out of the car. Her grandma and Grandpa get in the river, splashing themselves to cool off. Salamanca just watches. Minutes later, a young man comes and tells them that they're in private property. The man starts checking their pockets when a snake comes and bites Salamanca's grandma on the leg. She started bleeding—badly. The man then started doing a method on her where he sucks the blood and then spits it out. He does this for a while. The man also leads them to a hospital. There, the grandma gets treated. While waiting, the man and Salamanca start talking. He gives her his address so she can come over sometime. My prediction for next time I read is that Salamanca will go over to Todd's house and have a chat about what happened at the river. A connection I have is that just like Todd, I would help a person bleeding badly while they can bring the person to the hospital. Not only does that show kindness, it shows bravery and honor. Those are qualities of a very good person. Besides, there is an important saying, “Treat others the way you want to be treated.” I definitely wouldn't want to bleed my body out. I want someone to help.

Title of Text: The Softwire Virus on Orbis 1
Summary: As Johnny stood next to the central computer dodging random pieces of junk, he tried entering the computer. This time was different. His eyes turned blue and the he felt like he was literally inside the computer with the files running around him. When he tried searching for what went wrong, he noticed a green blob spitting fireballs everywhere. That's what was causing the mayhem. When the blob saw Johnny, it spit two green fireballs at him. Just in time, he got out and his eyes were normal again. When he looked up, Weegin was looking at him with a ferocious face. He started raging on until Theylor came in and demanded Weegin to stop. After having a short questioning, he was trapped by a green bubble and couldn't see what was going on. He fainted inside from all the commotion and when he woke up, he was inside a blue box. Theylor stood in the corner. He told him that they need a couple tests from him and soon he'll be let go. After the tests, he went back to his cell and sat there. Every couple of hours, robots fly and drop off tablets for him to eat. Soon, he got tired of them so he shook one telling it to leave him alone. Suddenly, his cell was blinking red and removed from the others. A robot pointed a laser and blasted. He dodged it and tried apologizing using a tone that seemed very confused. Soon, it stopped, and the cell was moved back. Later, he was warned about the tight security. After a while, Max and Ketheria visited him and talked about it. Well, Ketheria was just stealing his tablets. It appeared to him that he had been gone for hours and hours but he only missed two cycles. They chatted awaiting his release.

Summary: Today, one of the scientists visited Johnny. They wanted to go to a different city to have a chat about the whole central computer incident. Before they left, the scientist told Johnny that he must wear a helmet with headgear, and upper body wear. This will try to block your face from everyone because of the incident. When they got to the city, aliens were gasping and standing back. Johnny felt guilty and also pretty foolish. He hated all the aliens gasping and shouting. He tried to ignore it but he's become a permanent mark to Orbis. An embarrassing mark. He's surprised that not only do people know him for being a softwire, he's also known for being “psycho.” It was hard. The reputation of him depends on it.

Title of Text: The Softwire Virus On Orbis 1
Summary: Johnny and Charlie went to a “meeting” with many aliens, keepers, and guarantors. Madame Lee was there to announce something when Johnny noticed Boohral holding a computer drive from the Renaissance. He suddenly screamed and everyone went after the softwire. After they escaped, Johnny went back to his cell for more tests. It was a bummer for him. One more test he had to do was pretty challenging. Theylor inserted a file called Ketheria. He looked for it with over files to choose from. After minimizing his choices by very little, he started to “push” and eventually, he found it. Later, Charlie, Johnny, Max, and Ketheria went to the Earth News Café to have a chat of what it would be like on Earth. When they were done, Johnny went back to his cell. A new creature called a slopcrawler went into a cell above him leaving nasty brown goo on the roof. Moments later, every cell was starting to blink on and off. Creatures were leaving and Johnny tried the same but he didn't want to leave the slopcrawler. As they left for the exit, the ground was blinking as well. Then it vanished. Johnny was starting to fall when Max grabbed his hand. Ketheria held on to Max and a pole. The slopcrawler was slippery but Johnny found sandpaper like stuff on him to get a grip. The slopcrawler swung trying to get to the surface. As soon as they got up, a wall exploded and Neewalkers, mechanical stilt using weapon masters started charging at them. One of them pulled out a gun and shot at them but missed. Moments later, a rusty yet quick space jumper scooped them up and ran. They lost the Neewalkers but dropped the slopcrawler. When they stopped in sight of the two crystal moons, they headed for the one on the right which they thought was the way home. At the end of the path, they walked into the forest that Johnny saw in his dream before. At the end of the trees was the great city of Keepers called Magna. They got inside the huge building and saw Drapling, one of the Keepers. The next thing Johnny saw was the lid of his sleeper. He looked very puzzled. He found a letter on his bed from Theylor telling him to meet Theylor at the Earth News Café—alone. When he arrived, They started talking about serious matter. He saw a virus and now, the only way he can protect the central computer and Orbis 1 is to stay in the computer... for life. He was shocked and disagreed immediately. He stormed out passing Charlie, Max, and Ketheria on the way. They brought him home and when they got to Weegin's World, the horror began. From the first floor, they could see Weegin's office, and Weegin. He wasn't alone. There were three Neewalkers and Weegin let out a loud scream. Johnny went up there but Ketheria begged him to stop. When the door opened. Madame Lee was waiting. They took away Ketheria to a cell, knowing that Johnny is vulnerable without her. Madame Lee made a deal with Johnny. He does everything Madame Lee says and Ketheria is free. Johnny doesn't obey Madame Lee and he'll watch Ketheria die. Johnny couldn't do anything but agree. Madame Lee brought Johnny, Max, and Theodore into her ship and they flew near Magna. When they woke up and got off, millions of Neewalkers were positioned in groups. They were shocked. Madame Lee brought them back into the ship. She needed a certain file and Johnny went in to find it. He was searching hard to also find that virus. After searching for a while, he found her. She was being eaten by the computer. She yelled for help and then, she pointed out that he was a high-memory. He could duplicate the virus and save it. He did then the new one thanked him very much. They went through the files when they saw Madame Lee and code monsters in the computer. One of the monsters choked Johnny, killing his physical form. He is now in the computer for ever. With his new form, he started fighting the creatures. He could feel code sparks on his hands. He pushed forward and the sparks blasted the creatures into fading codes. He ran straight to Madame Lee and shocked her down. She begged him to stop. After the whole skirmish, he could hear Theodore trying to wake me up. He was gone though. Suddenly, there was a reboot. He opened his eyes and there was Theylor. He was safe and for the first time, Ketheria said something to him. She was happy Johnny was safe.

Summary: Johnny got very upset that not only was Max chosen for a different guarantor, but he had to put up with Switzer and Dalton. Weegin, the guarantor for Johnny, Theodore, Dalton, and Switzer gives them a tour of their new home. Johnny's softwire abilities enabled him to unlock doors with his mind. He puts his hand on the door then in his head, he can see all the files and blocks that he can mess around with. At dark, each kid picked out a “sleeper” and got to bed. Theodore found this headset in his sleeper that allowed him to control his dreams. Johnny decided to give them a spin as well. When he changed the settings, he went off to bed. Then, Ketheria, his sister was knocking on the door. Johnny opened it but Ketheria started running into the forest. Johnny ran to keep up but a few minutes later, he lost her. That's when he decided to sit on a rock when suddenly, a huge, winged, fiery beast started chasing after him. That's when he noticed that... he was dreaming. The next day was their first breakfast in Weegin's house. Everyone had three small tablets. Switzer took Theodore's pink tablet which tasted like bacon. Soon, he started taking everyone else's. After his series of stealing, Weegin came busting through the door. He explained the food tablets and said that they expand in your stomach so chew slowly. Since Switzer ate about 10, he threw up... three times... on Dalton. Everybody laughed and Switzer was fined half a chit.

Summary: Weegin took his children to a learning center to learn about the history of Orbis. They uploaded the files onto their implants behind the ear and was then told to study them. Johnny, the softwire didn't have to upload the files. He was a softwire and he could access the files automatically. Almost everyone knew Johnny now that he became a softwire. Some people loved him and some people hated him. He was an Orbis Icon. While the lesson was being studied, Johnny spotted Max and Ketheria then waved. Suddenly, the teacher was right next to him. Johnny got a warning to cut it out. He just started studying again in silence. Switzer and Dalton, as expected, giggled. Max gave a little snort as well. Ketheria just stood there.

Title of Text: Electronic Gaming Monthly July 2008 Edition
Minutes:90
Summary: In this magazine were ads about top of the line games, consoles, and accessories. There were also reviews, previews, ratings, and fan letters. Some reviews were about the long awaited Project Origin with it's frightening storyline and spooky characters. They gave me an inside look on the Mech suit with advanced technology and beefed up protection. They also talked about how opponents use the environment around them as their advantage which you can do too. Another review is on Gears of War 2. The fierce battle between locust and man continues in the second installment of the Gears of War series. They improved graphics, made the storyline stronger, the online mode more intense, and the weapons more frightening. From the looks of the screenshots, they may have met and exceeded their goal. Everyone's waiting to see if there's a possible Gears of War 3. All Cliff Blizenski and the G.O.W. Team can say is that you'll have to wait and see. The magazine also had a review section where a bunch of people grade different games. Boom Blox won Game of the Month and a gold reward, receiving an A+, an A, and an A-. Wii Fit got B's, Lego Indiana Jones got B's and Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire Of The Rift got B's as well. Those are just a few of the games reviewed. They also gave short summaries of games like NCAA College Football '09. They said that they improved graphics, allowed customizing mascot dances and more to make this installment very close to becoming the perfect college football game. EGM said 2008 may be the best gaming year yet.

Summary: All the kids went through the same process again. Weegin's group went to the learning center and learned about Social Studies. When the session was over, they went to Weegin's World to start their jobs. They first required a protective mask and goo to protect them from chemicals and other dangerous substances. Then, Weegin told them how to do their jobs. The robots do most of the work but you have to sort them by valuable and not valuable. After sorting dozens of items, he looked back on some of the wacky parts he saw. The next day, he was working when he noticed that some parts of the Renaissance were appearing on the conveyor belt. He went over to the main computer and looked up files on the Renaissance. He read that the Renaissance was taken apart and some of them were traded with the Trading Council and the rest were junked. Johnny was in shock because of all the things Mother taught him. Everything he learned was wasted with Weegin. He couldn't believe it. The next day, they gathered around for dinner while Weegin was asleep. Switzer stayed away from the pink tablets. When they all started, red and yellow lights started flashing. Many of the kids ran to their sleepers because they didn't want Weegin to see them awake. Johnny noticed noises in the work area. He went inside. All the robots were going berserk. He rushed to the main computer and started saying stop. He then saw that files were rapidly being deleted. Weegin bursted through the door, frantically trying to make it stop. He dodged junk up and down, left and right, trying to get to the main computer. He too struggled to make it stop. It was horror in there. While Johnny and Weegin were actually working, Theodore, Dalton, and Switzer stood there clueless while dodging flying trash.

Summary: Eddie Ball, a young basketball player, buys a box of delicious snacks called Finkles. He notices an ad for a chance to win $1,000,000.00 just by sinking a foul shot, a shot you take without anyone in your face. Eddie's chances almost get crushed when his friend Annie reads him the rules. “Void in anywhere prohibited. Finkle employees, and their families prohibited from entering.” The next day, Eddie finds out that his mom, the marshmallow operator for Finkles, has been fired. He feels so sad and down, but at the same time, he feels happy now that he can enter the contest. All he needs to do to win is to create a well-written poem about Finkles and send in 10 box-tops. Eddie shows Annie a series of poems. But all Annie's thinking about is how small his chance of winning is with these poems. Then Annie decides to write Eddie a poem. It goes...

How can pilgrims e'er be contented
When savory Finkles haven't been invented?

At first, Eddie thinks no way, but then he thinks about it and decides to use her poem. The following day, he gets the message telling him that he's won the contest and he needs to prepare for a big shot.

Summary: Eddie Ball practices with Annie's dad, Mr. Stokely. He gives Eddie the secret to shooting the perfect foul shots. Mr. Stokely tells Eddie that he is shooting about 90% of his shots. Better than any pro basketball player. A week or so later, George Finkle, manager of Finkles comes by Eddie's home. He tells him that Finkles will be going out of business due to tests showing that their snacks cause cancer. He tries to bribe Eddie by getting Eddie into the college of his choice and giving his mom her job back. Eddie tries to think it over. The next couple of days, Eddie notices weird things happening. Mowed in the grass was an odd message telling him to miss. On the backboard of the hoop he used, someone wrote in graffiti yet another message telling him to miss. The person also raised the hoop two inches which explained Eddie's series of misses. When he practiced at the gym, a strange man was video taping Eddie. When Eddie spotted him, he ran away. The same guy appeared days later. This time, when Eddie spotted him, he fell down the bleachers and ran away. The day of the shot came closer and closer so they left for New York. They got fancy rooms in a hotel where they drop the ball on New Year's Eve. An employee got a rim and a ball for Eddie to practice with. He kept practicing when suddenly Annie called Eddie over to see something. On the other side of the curtain, Mr. Stokely and Eddie's mom were lip-locked. Eddie was upset and started missing a lot of his shots. Mr. Stokely came out looking surprised at Eddie's bad accuracy. Eddie got so furious that he screamed at Mr. Stokely. Mr. Stokely told him to relax and hold his anger until the $1,000,000 shot was over. On the day of the shot, before he steps to the line, he feels for his lucky dollar coin, but notices a pickpocket must have taken it. Before he takes the shot, George Finkle tells everyone to flip their sign. Suddenly, there were a ton of backboards. He said he got triple vision and his mom told him to aim for the one in the middle. He bounces the ball, takes the shot, and the ball soars through the air making a perfect arc. The ball rolls around and around the top of the rim until... it falls in! George Finkle starts crying because not only does his business close, he has to pay $1,000,000.00! The business closes and Eddie buys it, renaming it as Air Crunchies.

After explaining all of that, Thaylor then starts testing the kids to see who needs the implants to make them alien kind. All the kids wait nervously, as they see others come out the door with the implants. Johnny twiddled his thumbs as he waited for his turn.
